The First Friday Link-Up is a blog linky-thingo on the first Friday of every month dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. It was created by Ryan from Back of the World and yours truly in a fit of loving madness.
Here’s seven quick reasons you should join us!
It’s all about love. The idea between the First Friday Link-Up is to take a moment, at the beginning of each month, and go back to the heart of our Faith.
The wonder of the Christian religion is that that heart isn’t an abstract concept, a set of laws or a vague, spiritual feeling. It is the living Heart of God made flesh: the most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The heart of Christianity is love.
There’s so much more to the Sacred Heart. Today, the Sacred Heart isn’t a terribly popular devotion. Let’s be honest, some of the pictures of the Heart of Jesus are just awful. Sometimes I think it’s a penance just to look at them. As everyone’s new favourite “Such a shame he didn’t become a priest!” would say…
But there is sooooo much more to the Sacred Heart than some admittedly not-great pictures. With First Friday Link-Ups, we want to encourage everyone — yes, EVERYONE — to see the Sacred Heart for what it is: “the highest expression of Christian piety.”
We have a button.
Buttons are still cool right?
First Friday Link-Ups are a great way to remember it is First Friday!
Why do you want to know it’s First Friday? Because Our Lord told St Margaret Mary that
I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant all to those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.
Receive Holy Communion on 9 consecutive First Fridays = grace of final repentance = Heaven.
If you think that’s awesome, you should join us for First Fridays! If you think that’s scandalous, you should also join us for First Fridays — and find out what’s really going on there! (Trust me, as a former Evangelical, there’s no works-righteousness or voodoo magic happening… I checked.)
Disco Sacred Heart of Jesus wants you to join this link-up.
He also wants you to know that strobe lighting for holy cards or statues is a liturgical no-no.
Seriously, I’m getting a headache trying to write this thing with that flashing away.
Let’s do some dots so it won’t hurt your eyes so much…
And I think we’re about done!
Each month we have a theme or idea to inspire you! You can stick to it, use it as a bouncing off pad or do something completely different.
This month’s theme is Repentance.
Just in time for Lent, how does the Sacred Heart help you understand repentance? What do you think Jesus would do for Lent? And if Christ never had to repent, do you think He really understands repentance?
During Lent, we often focus on what we are giving up for God. But how are you going to let God love you this Lent?
It’s super easy.
